Best Behavior

What is considered good (or best) behavior is culture-specific… — it’s even specific to sub-culture.

How should a culture or sub-culture choose what it’s cultural ethics are? Are such choices even explicitly made? … by a leader?

Are more advances societies and cultures more explicit with respect to the kinds of behavior which are considered ethical vs. unethical for that society / culture?

This one line in Bob Dylan’s “Subterranean Homesick Blues” brings it to a point:

Don’t follow leaders
Watch the parkin’ meters

In my opinion, this means that there is not a one-size fits-all leader who can guide you on your path. Indeed, the path may be multi-cultural (and by that I mean you may be a part of several cultures — and/or sub-cultures — at the same time)… so you have to watch the “metrics” which each culture that you are “parked” in apply (if you wish to remain in “good standing” within those cultures or sub-cultures).
